What duties does an Electrical Engineer perform at a Mine?

I have a friend who just started a Job as an Electrical Engineer in Minnesota … and I was curious as to what he does

Large mines has a power unit, blowers and water pumps. The electrical with his team sees that all the equipment are working perfectly.

most likely just maintain and moniter the electrical components or machinery that bring power and air down to the mine shaft.
