I’m currently working for a building services company as a electrical apprentice but the company is very small with only a dozen employee and we do a lot of maintenance from magcllamps to card readers( we rarely do lighting and switches and socket) but the problem is I am still very undecided if I should continue this path or continue my study to become a electrical engineer.
In other words I have already done all my paper works for my apprentice I am currently just doing the 4 year practical work for it and also to sit my final exam to become registered.
but if it takes me 4years to get registered as a qualified electrician OR study 3-4 years to be a electrical engineer.
I am already 24 and very confuse, i do enjoy some of the electrical work but then again i knnow i can do more and study, so any help on wheter i should pursue studying please help!
i really suggest u to cont. studies..graduate with a degree in electrical eng can offer u a very attractive salary, social status as a graduate engineer, career advancement..
4 yrs of internship to registered as an electrician is not worth it compared to a bachelor in engineering which would take quite a similar duration..
it ok if ur 24 now, a good engineer is a person with a vast exp., u already hd the exp. as electrician from ur previous job, when the time comes u start to work as an engineer, there will be no prob to catch up..
i again suggest u to pursue ur career as an engineer..it really worth it..
