I recently graduated with electrical and computer engineering degree , What kinda entry level jobs do you think I should apply for ?

Just go do a bunch of interviews at companies in which you have an interest. Many of them likely will not be listed on caree websites.

During those interviews you will likely learn things about companies and about yourself that you did not know. You will discover something that strikes your interest. One or more of them might even offer you a starting job.

Something will fall into place. Keep your prospects open. For example, I was talking to a grandparent of one of my kids friends recently. He had something to do with QT ( a gas station chain). Turns out he was in charge of all the electrical designs for the chain and had EE students as interns. Who would have thought!

From Cognitive Neuroscience to Computing Architectures

Research Overview
The thrust of Michael Arbib’s work is expressed in the title of his first book, Brains, Machines and Mathematics (McGraw-Hill, 1964). The brain is not a computer in the current technological sense, but he has based his career on the argument that we can learn much about machines from studying brains, and much about brains from studying machines. He has thus always worked for an interdisciplinary environment in which computer scientists and engineers can talk to neuroscientists and cognitive scientists.

His primary research focus is on the coordination of perception and action. This is tackled at two levels: via schema theory, which is applicable both in top-down analyses of brain function and human cognition as well as in studies of machine vision and robotics; and through the detailed analysis of neural networks, working closely with the experimental findings of neuroscientists on humans and monkeys. He is also engaged in research on the evolution of brain mechanisms for human language, pursuing the Mirror System Hypothesis that links language parity (the fact that what the speaker intends is roughly what the hearer understands) to the properties of the mirror system for grasping — neurons active for both the execution and observation of actions — to explain (amongst many other things) why human brains can acquire sign language as readily as speech.

The author or editor of almost 40 books, Arbib has most recently edited “Who Needs Emotions? The Brain Meets the Robot” (with Jean-Marc Fellous, Oxford University Press, 2005) and “From Action to Language via the Mirror System” (Cambridge University Press, 2006).

Ensuring a Smooth Electrical Project

Posted by admin On January - 17 - 2009

Not everyone realizes the work and effort that it requires to put together a proper electrical job and without the work and effort, the project can fail miserably. Simply looking in your local phone book to select the first electrician you can find is not the best thing to do in the least, rather it is very important to take some time and really consider all of your options carefully to be absolutely certain that you have made the correct decision in your choice of electrical contractor.

Hector, 61 years old, is electrician. He would not have missed this for the world. “It’s fantastic”, he says sitting on his rock, bathed in the clouds of dust he gets every time a contender roars past. “I mainly came here to see the cars and the trucks.”

I'm going into my junior year. 3.1 GPA but never had an internship so electrical engineering experience yet. The only reason I want to minor in technical sales is if it can help land me a job as a technical consulter when i finish with college just incase I have trouble initially finding a job in electrical engineering.

If you are going into your junior year, you have plenty of time for a Co-op / internship or just get experience. If you want to land a job in technical sales think about what an employer would like to see. First will be a resume and second a good interview, as you must be outgoing, a good speaker and not afraid of those higher on the ladder than you are.

I am a Junior at UF and minoring in Sales Engineering. I work at Best Buy while I am in school to get the sales part down. I have done a Co-op for GE appliances to get the engineering/ manufacturing part down. Next summer I plan to do one for a computing company so I get a little background in electrical hardware.

From what I have seen, you shouldn't have much of a hard time getting a job, however, filling your resume with good points will usually get you more job offers to choose from.
