does he need to sit some kind of test or go on a course
As long as it's a recognised qualification all you will need to do is do a conversion course, as our wiring is different

from what i hear electrictians are making a lot of dough. but i haven't taken any courses on that yet. which im sure i can take at a local community college later. im in the academy of finance for school though meaning my path is toward accounting.
help me out!
well, where would you be happier?
accountants do not have to deal with traveling to job sites usually, and all the ones i have seen have nice offices with comfy chairs.
but money is very important to some people and you are RESPONSIBLE for that money
I would personally go for electrician, but thats cause I like working with my hands. You would get to work on something different everyday, and skilled trades are in high demand
but, you may have to work in some crappy weather, crawl into dirty basements…and so on
so what would you rather do?

I have been unable to find any Florida law or regulation that prohibits electrical contractors from using staffing companies to supplement their workforce, yet some companies still believe that is the case.
Does anyone know the answer or where to direct me for more information? Thanks!
If the electricians from staffing companies are legally allowed to work in the US and have the certifications / license to work in florida as an electrician, I do not see any reason why a contractors can not supplement his staff with personnel from a staffing company.

I am an electrician but i have not worked on domestic installations for a few years. I think you have to tie in the bathroom light with the shower.
As an electrician you are deemed to be a competant person to carry out the installation of your shower under part P of the building regs, april 1st. 2005, but you must inform building control at your local office.
Shower should be wired in 6mm twin & earth cable up to 9kw
with a 45amp pull switch on bathroom ceiling and run back to the distribution board and terminated in a 45amp mcb / or fuse
also a 16mm earth wire should be run from dis. board to shower unit, and all cross bonding within bathroom must be carried out i.e. under sink ( hot & cold ) under bath and any other exposed metalwork such as central heating radiators in 6mm earth wire.
The spray head of the shower must be mounted at such a hight that when hanging down towards the bath cannot be submerged under bath water, this is water board regulation to prevent back syphon of dirty water to clean supply.
The light shoud be on it's own or connected with the fan on a timer to run on when the light is switched off.

I’m just finishing high school and want to become an electrician in ontario.I also want to be able to own an commercial electrical contracting company in the future. Any info on how to accomplish this would be help full.
Many colleges in Ontario have an electrician program you should apply to. If you don’t want to go to college then you’re probably not going to find a job as an electrician. I have several friends going to Cambrian College in their electrician program. Either talk to your school guidance counselor or look online and email the colleges that offer the program. They will mail you some free info packets about admissions and requirements.

He's been trying to set me up, I won't go into the whole
story, it's too long. I am 57 and I think he just wants to get
rid of me due to my age. I have saved this place money,
I am an Industrial Electrician who put in security system
so they wouldn't have to call someone in from the outside.
I come to work everyday and do my job. He now wants
me to come in for a meeting tomorrow.
You made me laugh, WW! Looks as
if there is age discrimination on
here as well as no one else is replying!
Age shouldnt have a thing to do with it..Darn I'm not but a couple years younger than you.. You are experienced in your field and could teach alot of younger whipper snappers a thing or 2. Just dont let him rial you up on this issue.Just tell him you are a loyal employee and you need to work. So you think he wants to get rid of you because of age. That's a crock of bull if you ask me. Go in that meeting and be confident in your words and dont back down to him. Dont let him get rid of you because of age. Cause you got him over a barrel .. Isnt it called discrimation for him to fire you on that account? Wishing you all the best on this …

The panel displays on my Merc C180 dim when the lights are turned on. The other morning they went abnormally bright when the starter was operated. Sometimes they vary of their own accord, usually being rather dim. Just had dealer service, but this was totally routine and the last fault has been evident before. Any ideas please?
Should add last fault has been evident for years!
Bob. Are we on to something? The rheostat does not affect radio/aircon/computer displays at all. It only works the speedo etc illumination, which does not seem exhibit the faults.
if its the panel lights, as in the lights in the dashboard. well, thats controlled by this little device called a rheostat. basically a rheostatic voltage regulator. in lamins terms, a dimmer knob. it could have gone bad. replace that first. i doubt very much so its the voltage regulator in the alternator.

Electricians license in Illinois?
Do you need a license in Illinois to be an electrician? I know the city of Chicago has special rules. But I am interested in the rest of Illinois. Someone said you didn't need anything to call yourself an electrician and this just doesn't sound right to me
I'm pretty sure you would need a license to work on someone's house. That's why there is a National Electric Code.

I have 10 years experiance as a diesel electrician. Heavy equipment, military and civilian equipment used by the military. I have no criminal background except some driving violations (no DUIs). My main concern is not being considered a "journeyman" electrician. My experience has all been military or as a military contractor. In the military and its contract world no one is a journeyman. So really my question is "What are the chances of me being picked up by a railroad as a diesel electrician if I go to NARS and with my work experiance." Thanks
With your background experience coupled with the fact that the industry is really booming right now you most likely shouldn't have a problem getting on, particularly with one of the seven major Class I railroads.

I have a friend who just started a Job as an Electrical Engineer in Minnesota … and I was curious as to what he does
Large mines has a power unit, blowers and water pumps. The electrical with his team sees that all the equipment are working perfectly.
