    I understand UL is …
I understand UL is prestigious. UL is a great thing don’t get me wrong. It’s just that in order for laboritories like UL to be trusted with their job, there’s government agencies to approve of those. It’s not quite the same as free-market being able to regulate itself. I should have been more clear in my first explanation. Then again the 500 character rule kind of makes that hard.

Okay, so I guess we …
Okay, so I guess we have the similar picture in mind then, just have different wording for it. I understand that there’s many ways to look at the meaning of “de-regulation”. I too believe the government should do what you say, depending on what you mean. But I think there also has to be rules, that keep business from bribing government for example. That’s what regulation is, but at the same time, I guess you can say allowing business bribes would be regulation too, depending on how you think.

    UL is very …
UL is very prestigious. Many retail chains won’t accept electronics if that haven’t been certified by UL. That’s how a free market could regulate itself.

    the so called ” …
the so called “de-regulation” of the Regean years wasn’t really de-regulation at all it was more regulation to benefit the corporations. If it were real de-regulation the playing field would be even for entrepreneurs. And if govt weren’t involved at all in the markets, except to enforce contracts and deal with fraud, there would be no incentive for the corporations to send their lobbyists.

    Im gonna give you …
Im gonna give you an example: Evo morales video. He is a socialist, and they were praising him. They were comparing him with Obama. But you don’t know that Evo commanded an army to kill 35 civilians. You don’t know how Evo got to power, do you? He got to power by blocking streets, manipulating people, and doing riots. And I don’t understand why the this news stations portray him as a hero, or indirectly as Obama. That is just one example, and I can give you more. This channel isWithTHE left

    yup, unrestricted …
yup, unrestricted free markets lead to concentration of power which is always a danger to any system, a very successful corporation can do insider trades, bribe politicians, hire economic hit men, suppress competition aso., its the fires of capitalism which have to be guarded well

    yup, righteous king …
yup, righteous king concept, “our system is perfect if only the right people are in charge”, libertarians argue that we never had real free markets just as communists would say we never had real communism, the susceptibility of a system to corruption and misuse mustnt be excluded from the equation

The world is run by …
The world is run by the most genocidal, greedy criminals the masses have ever known.
The people have allowed this to happen. The huge majority have “gone along”.
THEIR “laws” are tricks, written in their favor & THEIR courts are bought & paid for.
There are over 6 MILLION “laws” in the US alone.
Society MUST rewrite the laws, simplfy them, make them TRULY JUST!
Next, the people must PROSECUTE the criminals involved in the destruction of freedom.
    Arrest, prosecute & isolate them!

  12. alexglad06 Says:

    I agree that …
I agree that manytimes government regulation does benefit big corperations, but at the same time government regulation has stopped corperations from doing bad things in the past. Part of what causes crony capitalism is deregulation, which allows businesses to bribe governments into favorable regulation. Political campaigns are so dependent on corperate dollars that politicians almost indisputably favor big business.

    the UL, though, …
the UL, though, doesn’t approve of anything. It’s just an independent source that surveys companies. I’m talking about organizations that are trusted to “approve” of products. The UL and similar organizations has to be approved on it’s own to ure is has proper integrity. They’re more then government agencies because the agencies are way underfunded, so much that they rely on the integrity of corperations to do their own testing and give honest results.

  15. alexglad06 Says:

    Well, how do you …
Well, how do you expect free-markets to have the integrity to regulate themselves? If they don’t have to to do something that’s fair for everyone at the expence of their profit, how do you expect them to carry it out? I agree that we do need laws like that, but there has to be a balance of laws that keep businesses from doing criminal acts and getting away with them.

    jauanmisimo: can …
jauanmisimo: can you be more specific? What other side are you talking about? Do you want positive puff pieces about Monsanto or perhaps Exxon/Mobile? Would you like to see a dramatic expose about the economic collapse which shows how CEOs are just people, too; and this crisis may mean that instead of buying a Hummer for their teen this Christmas they may have to get them a Lexus because it gets better gas mileage? Maybe a piece about how labor laws are bad for corporate profits & dividends?

I dont claim that the US govt reduces force or fraud, I am a proud socialist. Remember? I shout that the libertarian system is worse! We are at opposite ends of the spectrum and can never agree on this. But I do wish you well for turkey day.

That is why economics is not a separate field. It can not be descrided without using another field of reference, psychological behavioralism in this case.

Even though I am in the Social Science Dept. I can’t say that even history follows purely scientific principles, for we can not recreate experiments, control groups ect… What you describe is a classical definition of psychology, not economics. Check Maslow.

  23. Rundstedt1 Says:

    (sigh)I get so …
(sigh)I get so tired this. What you have insultingly called socialism is a form of capitalism known as crony capitalism, or in essence, a form of modern economic feudalism. It has nothing to do with socialism and is really an end result of less and less regulation in capitalist system that is also advocated by your libertarian principles. Try printing your own money if you don’t like the stuff going around. Thats free market; Go for it. “Don’t take no wooden nickels.” - A free market saying
